- Your CVs, cover letters, Z83 forms, photos and documents are saved only on your own phone or computer.
- We do not collect, upload, sell or share your personal information. There are no accounts and no tracking.
- The Android app has no internet permission, so it cannot send your details anywhere.
Who we are
CV Maker SA is an app and website for making South African CVs, cover letters and Z83 forms. It is designed and developed by Tumelo Vincent Tau, Welkom, Free State, South Africa. Contact: tumelovincent558@gmail.com.
Information you enter
To make a CV you type in details such as your name, ID number, date of birth, contact details, address, languages, school and work history, references and other details South African CVs often include. You can also add a photo, a signature and copies of documents such as your ID or certificates.
All of this is saved only on your device: inside the app on Android, or in your browser's storage on the website. It is never sent to us or to anyone else by CV Maker SA. We cannot see it.
The Android app
The app does not ask for internet access and has no way to send information over the internet. It asks for these permissions, only for the reasons below:
- Camera – to take your CV photo or photos of your documents, only when you tap the camera button.
- Notifications – to remind you of job closing dates you add in the application tracker.
- Run at start-up – to keep those reminders after your phone restarts.
The website
The website is hosted on GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc.). Like any website host, GitHub receives standard technical information, such as your IP address and browser type, when your browser loads the pages. See GitHub's privacy statement. The details you type into CV Maker SA are not part of this: they stay in your browser and are never uploaded. After the first visit the website also works without internet.
To count visits, the website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics. It counts page views and visits without cookies and without identifying you, and it never sees the details you type into CV Maker SA. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
On the website, when you tap a sponsor's button, a short "Opening…" page on cvmakersa.co.za appears first, so the same counter can count the tap. Sponsors only see how many taps their card had, never who tapped.
When you save or share
When you save, share or print a file, it goes only where you choose, for example your Downloads folder, WhatsApp or Gmail. The app you share to handles the file under its own privacy policy.
Sponsor cards
To stay free, the app shows one small card marked "Sponsored" for a local business, on the front page and under the CV preview. The cards are part of the app itself: showing them sends nothing anywhere, and nobody can see who saw them. If you tap a card, it opens that business's WhatsApp, phone, email or website, and what you send them is between you and that business. Sponsor cards never appear on your CV, cover letter, Z83 or any file you save.
Feedback emails
If you choose to send feedback, your own email app sends it. We then receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply to you and to improve CV Maker SA, we do not share it, and we delete it if you ask. Please do not send your ID number or other private details in feedback.
Keeping and deleting your information
- Delete a CV or document in the app at any time.
- Uninstalling the Android app, or clearing the website's data in your browser, removes everything CV Maker SA saved on that device.
- Backup files you make with "Back up all CVs" are normal files that you control. Keep them somewhere safe.
- You can turn on a PIN lock in the menu to keep others from opening your CVs.
Your rights (POPIA)
Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) you have the right to know what personal information is held about you and to ask for it to be corrected or deleted. CV Maker SA does not hold your CV information, as it stays on your device. For feedback emails or any privacy question, contact tumelovincent558@gmail.com.
Children
CV Maker SA is made for people looking for work. It is not aimed at children.
Not a government app
CV Maker SA is not part of, or endorsed by, the South African government. The Z83 feature helps you fill in the public Z83 application form; you submit your application yourself, in the way the advert asks.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
