What you can do
- Change the text that is already there. Tap a line, type the new words and tap Done. The old words are removed from the PDF and the new ones are put in the same place, in the same size and colour, with the closest matching font.
- Add new text anywhere, in bold or normal, in three fonts and six colours, and make it bigger or smaller.
- Add a picture, such as a logo, a stamp or a photo.
- Highlight words, or white them out to hide them.
- Draw with your finger, and add boxes, lines and arrows.
- Sign with your finger, and add ticks, crosses and today's date to forms.
- Pages: add a blank page, turn a page, move it up or down, or delete it.
- Undo any step before you save.
How to edit a PDF on your phone
- Open CV Maker SA. Edit PDF is the first thing under PDF tools.
- Tap Choose from phone and pick your PDF (from Downloads, WhatsApp or Google Drive). You can also take a photo of a page: it becomes a PDF you can write on.
- Tap Edit text, then tap the line you want to change. Type the new words and tap Done.
- Use the other tools at the bottom to add text, pictures, highlights or your signature. Tap anything you added to move it or change it.
- Tap Save. Your file is saved as a new PDF ending in "- edited", so the original stays as it was. Share it on WhatsApp or email straight away.
Is it really free?
Yes. There is no account, no trial and no watermark on your pages. The same editor is in the CV Maker SA Android app and on this website, and it works on a computer too.
Your file stays private
The editing happens on your own phone or computer. Your PDF is not uploaded to any server, so it is safe to edit documents such as an ID copy, a payslip or a signed form. Edited files are kept in My files in the app until you delete them.
Good to know
- Scanned pages are pictures. The words on a scan or a photo cannot be changed as text. Use White-out to cover a word and Add text to type the new one over it.
- Fonts are matched, not copied. Changed text uses the closest of three fonts (one like Calibri, one like Times New Roman and a clean sans font), so it can look slightly different from the original. Italic text comes out upright.
- Locked PDFs: some PDFs are locked against changes. You can still edit them, but they are saved as pictures of the pages.
- Your signature is a picture of your handwritten signature, which is what most job applications and forms ask for. It is not a certified digital signature.
More free PDF tools
CV Maker SA also turns Word documents and photos into PDFs, scans documents with your camera, merges and splits PDFs, makes them smaller to email, and adds or removes a password.
