1. An example profile
A short profile at the top of your CV says who you are and what work you want. Change it to fit your own experience:
2. Duties to list
Under each job like this in your work experience, list three to five of the duties you really did:
- Answer inbound calls and help customers with queries
- Make outbound sales and follow-up calls
- Capture customer details and notes on the system
- Resolve complaints or escalate them to a team leader
- Meet call quality and sales targets
- Follow scripts and compliance rules
3. Skills and certificates
Skills employers look for in this job:
- Communication
- Customer service
- Computer literate
- Patience
Also list, if you have them:
- Languages you speak well
- Inbound, outbound or sales experience
- Targets you met and systems you used
4. Tips for Call Centre Agent jobs
- Say whether you did inbound (customers calling in), outbound or sales calls, and how many calls a day.
- Targets matter in call centres: mention the ones you met, for example quality scores or sales.
- Your languages are a big advantage. Many call centres look for agents who speak more than one South African language.
5. An example cover letter
Send a short cover letter with your CV, naming the post and the reference number from the advert:
Dear Hiring Manager
Re: Application for the post of Call Centre Agent
I would like to apply for the post of Call Centre Agent, as advertised. Please find my CV attached.
For a year I worked inbound customer service for an insurance company, handling about 80 calls a day, updating client details and solving queries. I met my quality targets every month and I stay calm and polite, even with angry customers.
I am available for an interview at any time and can be reached on 072 123 4567. Thank you for considering my application.
Yours faithfully
