1. An example profile
A short profile at the top of your CV says who you are and what work you want. Change it to fit your own experience:
2. Duties to list
Under each job like this in your work experience, list three to five of the duties you really did:
- Capture information accurately on the computer system
- Check data for errors and correct them
- Scan and file source documents
- Prepare simple reports from the captured data
- Keep information confidential
- Meet daily capturing targets
3. Skills and certificates
Skills employers look for in this job:
- Fast and accurate typing
- Microsoft Excel
- Attention to detail
- Confidentiality
Also list, if you have them:
- Typing speed (words per minute) and accuracy
- Systems and programs you used (Excel, SAP, own systems)
- Computer literacy certificate
4. Tips for Data Capturer jobs
- Give your typing speed and accuracy. If you do not know it, do a free online typing test first.
- Mention the kind of data you captured and how much (for example "about 300 forms a day").
- Accuracy and confidentiality matter: say that you check your work and keep information private.
5. An example cover letter
Send a short cover letter with your CV, naming the post and the reference number from the advert:
Dear Hiring Manager
Re: Application for the post of Data Capturer
I would like to apply for the post of Data Capturer, as advertised. Please find my CV attached.
During my year at the municipality I captured about 300 application forms a day into the system, checked them for mistakes and filed the originals. I type 45 words per minute, I work carefully, and I treat people's information as confidential.
I am available for an interview at any time and can be reached on 072 123 4567. Thank you for considering my application.
Yours faithfully
